It’s not uncommon for the seeds of a vocation to be planted early, and for Araval, those seeds were sown at home, watching his mother work tirelessly as a nurse in India. Her dedication left a lasting impression. Years later, it was his sister who is also a nurse, and a Carinya staff member who pointed him toward a new chapter in his own journey.
When Araval first walked through the doors of Carinya, he felt something different. “There was this sense of calm and respect,” he remembers. “The team worked hard, but there was kindness in how they did everything. Residents weren’t just being cared for they were valued.” It didn’t take long for him to feel he was exactly where he was meant to be.
Raised in a culture where elders are deeply respected and family ties run strong, aged care felt like a natural fit. “Caring for the elderly isn’t just a job for me, it’s part of who I am,” he says. “There’s real meaning in being able to support someone’s dignity in their later years.”
Today, Araval works as both a Registered Nurse and In-Charge Nurse, roles he takes on with a calm confidence. Each shift begins with a focus on his team and offering support, checking in, ensuring everyone feels heard. “When staff feel respected and appreciated, they give their best and that’s what our residents deserve.”
One of the most powerful parts of his job is being present in the quiet moments, the hard ones. “Supporting a resident and their family through end-of-life care… it’s a privilege,” he reflects. “It’s a moment that stays with you. You never forget the trust they place in you.”
Araval recently completed diversity and inclusion training, an experience he says changed the way he works. “It reminded me that every resident brings a life story with them. Even if we don’t know all the details, we must meet them with respect, empathy, and patience. It’s also about creating that same inclusive environment within our team.”
When he’s not at work, Araval balances his competitive spirit with a love for rest and recovery. “I’m laid-back on the outside,” he admits, “but give me a challenge and I’ll give it everything. Still, nothing beats a good workout, and then a really solid nap.”
Through his quiet strength, cultural grounding, and genuine care, Araval has become a steady, compassionate presence at Carinya. Behind the name badge is a leader who listens, a carer who sees the whole person, and a man whose story is still being written with heart, humility, and purpose.
